Fly-posting and GraffitiFly-postingFly-posting can be described as the affixing of stickers, posters and other advertising material without the consent of the owner of the property, which may be a building, an item of street furniture or some other structure. The practice can pose a particular nuisance in town centres, as it is unsightly and creates an air of neglect. It is also illegal and anyone responsible for it, or benefiting from it, can be prosecuted. Graffiti is a term which refers to any marking illegally made on walls and other surfaces. Despite graffiti being common in areas such as towns and cities, it is not a major problem in comparison to other issues such as litter. However, it takes only a small amount of graffiti to have a dramatic effect on an area, by creating an impression of neglect. This adverse effect applies, not only to the place, but to the people living there. |
